After an arduous 2 month process, we finally submitted the A&A application at the end of January.
On Feb. 11, sadly, my father passed away, just 2 weeks later. Mom is still OK.
With the application just now being processed, what is the best course of action under these circumstances for mom's benefit elegibility?
    Thank you.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad, and our sympathies go out to you and your family during this difficult time.

When you applied, did you apply just for your Dad, or for him and your Mom? If you applied for both, then you will have to do a new application for her as the Surviving Spouse on VA application 21-534.

If you only applied for Dad, then you can just call the VA and inform them of his passing.

Again our thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Thanks for the comments.
Since the application was already submitted, do I ask them to ignore it and start all over again (sigh....), or does it get processed in conjunction with the new form you mentioned? How will they "link" the two?

You need to inform them that your Dad has passed and do the new application 21-534 for your Mom. Sorry but there are no shortcuts here, and the VA will not use your Dad's application for her.
