Stopping A & A

    My Dad (veteran) qualified and recieved A&A because my mom needed full time dementia care. She passed away on 10/28/2011. He received VA Burial assistance after her passing. He has notified VA about her death yet they continue to direct deposit the full benefit amount. My Dad is in excellent health and does not require any assistance. Shouldn't the VA have stoped this payment by now? Won't he be expected to pay all this back? What should I do?

    Yes, they should have, and I hope he has hung onto the money as he will have to return it.

    You need to contact them again, and I would also send something in the mail as well Return Receipt.

    Hope you can get is straightened out soon.
