When figuring My Mom's medical expenses that are deductible, to bring her income to 0, am I supposed to figure 5% of MAPR? Should I discount that amount first off her total and then bring her amount to 0? If her social security medicare income is $1300 a month, I know I have to have medical expenses to equal that amount, but do I have to go further because of the 5% MAPR? I am totally confused?

Just do the basic math. Income $1300, care expenses $1200 positive at the end of the month - $100 as an example However the math works out with her income minus expenses for care. Keep it simple.
