I did not realize that the VA will provide a pension for home bound benefit ( I know it is explained on this site). I know that it is not difficult to figure the cost of a home care agency to put down on the application, but as for a family member providing such care, my question is what hourly rate is reasonable? Should I just look at rates of home care agencies in my area and use that rate for the type of service they provide that a family member would also be providing? I came to the conclusion that this would work better for my mother in law at present.

In my experience while working for a "Home Care Agency", the caregiver gets from $10-12 an hour based on experience. The agency that employs them bills the patient or family almost twice that amount. Something to consider.
