Hello, I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere, but I did not see it addressed. My Dad was a 28-year Air Force vet from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He retired and drew his pension, but did not opt for survivor pension benefits for Mom. Dad passed away, Mom is living on social security, and now needs help with cooking. Pretty sure she would pass the "no more than $80,000 from assets" requirement, but is she even eligible to apply for Aid and Attendance if she is not getting a surviving spouse pension? Thank you for any advice you can give.

Hello there and welcome to the forums. No, your mother would not be ineligible just because she's not getting a survivor spouse pension. This A&A pension is completely separate from any other pension and more dependent on her financial situation and your father's service during wartime.
