My husband has been appointed fiduciary for his mother but has not yet been able to set up the necessary bank account, in part because we live outside the U.S. He just spoke with the VA and they said until the account is set up they will mail a check for the monthly benefit to him AND will mail check for the $2,200 in retroactive benefits that is due.Has anyone else heard of the VA mailing a check for the retro portion?

This may be due to the fact that you are applying out of the U.S.?...I would assume anyways. Because normally they just direct deposit the retro money.
