Thank you so much for this website.   It has truly been a blessing to read the forum questions while waiting for word from the VA.

I received a packet in the mail dated June 30 for my father's A&A award.  I have a few questions.
First the monthly entitlement amount is shown below:
There are two lines; one has the benefit amount 1644 with $0 paid effective date of application, reason for change, finding of incompetency proposed.
second line has benefit amount 1644 with $0 withheld, amount paid 1644 effective July 1 reason for change financial hardship claims funds released.

I am reading this correctly, that the VA will pay 1644 a month but withhold the back pay pending the finding of incompetency.   I hope I am correct.   And because bank account information was included on the application is this first payment a direct deposit? as later in the letter there is information on how to set up direct deposit.

Another group of pages marked Important Reply Needed.   This states we propose to rate you incompetent for VA purposes.   This means a fiduciary MAY be appointed to help you manage your VA benefits.   It goes on to list the veterans rights to appeal.  Should I send a statement of support stating the veteran agrees with this ruling and ask to be appointed fiduciary or wait for some other letter that they send?

Last question for today....
My father's house was listed on his application.  He is to report net worth increases but what about decreases?   I understand he can not sell the house and keep the money in his name (which will be about $80,000 at most).   Do they question what happened to the real estate on the annual income report?

Again thank you for all the help this forum provides.  It's nice to see we are all in the "same boat", even though most times it feels like our boat is sinking.

SEND LETTER FROM VETERAN ASKING TO HAVE YOU APPOINTED FIDUCIARY

YOU MUST REPORT THE SALE OF THE HOUSE TO THE VA WITHIN 30 DAYS, WITH HIS NEW NET WORTH

Fit2009 Thank you for the reply.

I have been searching the VA forms but can't seem to find the one to request to be appointed fiduciary.   Does anyone have a link to this form; or the proper name of this form so that I can search it?

Thank you again.
