My mother-in-law who has Parkinson's was approved for A&A back in September 2010. As a widow she originally received DIC in the amount of $1154.00 but that was increased an additional $337.00 to total $1491.00 with the A&A. Because of her need for an increased amount of care, back in December the monthly amount for her care at assisted living increased by $400.00 per month which my husband and I have paid for. Her condition continues to deteriorate and we know that in the near future she will need to be moved to another facility (nursing home) to care for her. Here is my question. As her need for additional care continues to grow and her medical expenses increase, can we request an increase in her A&A? What is the maximum amount available if someone originally received $1154.00 in DIC?
I thank you for your help.

Sorry to say this, but no.

Was her husband 100% service connected, or a POW?  That would be where the extra money over the amount of  a widow at $1094.

There is some "talk" about another COLA increase to be seen in 2013, but that is not defenite, and it usually a 3% increase that would help a little bit.

Sorry it's not the answer you are looking for.

Her husband was classified as 100% DAV at the time of his death. Is that what you mean by 100% service connected?

Yes, and if his death was attributed in part to his service injuries.  She is at the max of what she can get outside of any COLA increases.
