She is eligible for $286 in additional allowance once she needs the aid and attendance of another person - there is NO financial test, but she is not eligible for the $1,056 as she is already receiving the higher DIC amount.

Additional Allowances:
a. Add $246 if at the time of the veteran's death, the veteran was in receipt of or entitled to receive compensation for a service-connected disability rated totally disabling (including a rating based on individual unemployability) for a continuous period of at least 8 years immediately preceding death AND the surviving spouse was married to the veteran for those same 8 years. (38 U.S.C. 1311(a)(2))
.....
c. If the surviving spouse is entitled to A&A, add $286. (38 U.S.C. 1311(c))
OR I added this so you would not think she gets both - she gets wither c or d depending on her physical need
d. If the surviving spouse is entitled to Housebound, add $135 (38 U.S.C. 1311(d))

I see he must have been !00% service connected 8 continuous yrs prior to his death...my dad did not receive his benefits until his 70's , I would have to find out the actual date of when he received the  designated 100% service connected pension. Would that make a difference?
