My father is a WW II veteran and 91 years old. He lives alone at home and only has an aid (2-3 days weekly) part-time and his assets are well below $80,000. Can I apply for a veterans pension without aid and attendance now? Would he be approved for any benefits? And if later on he needs a full-time aid could I re-apply for and aid and attendance pension?

Norma, he may be eligible for the A&A benefit now. If his monthly income is not exceeding the amount of money he is paying for care per month, he could be eligible. If you think he'd be eligible for A&A in the next year, you can always submit an Intent to File form to get the process started. Then the retroactive payments would be dated at that submission date of the Intent to File. He would get more money in the end.
