Recently my mother was approved for Aid and Attendance; she using the income for her in home care.

My question is she may qualify for extra assistance for prescription medication through Social Security based on her current amount of Social Security. However, the application for the extra help for prescriptions has a question I’m unsure how to answer, which is, INCOME: Veterans benefit : MONTHLY AMOUNT.

If I understand correctly Aid and Attendance is to be used only for care and not anything else. I’m not sure how to answer this question on the application. Do I include the amount of Aid and Attendance? Or do answer this question as none or no?

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

I would include the amount of the A&A benefit per month, as that would qualify for income to her as a veterans benefit. If you can include an extra document or letter stating that this is the Aid and Attendance benefit that is used solely to pay for her in-home care, I would advise that. Couldn't hurt.
