I filed the application for my mother in February, 2010. The ALF completed their part and supposedly forwarded it to the VA. I was told by the ALF director that the VA rep actually used my mom's paperwork as an example of how it should be filled out in a training they had. That director has been reassigned and I can't get a response from her. I need to know if there is a way to contact the VA and see where her application stands in the process. The new director is telling me to fill everything out again and send it in but I'm concerned that it will confuse the situation if her paperwork has already been entered.Sure would appreciate someone's help!

Call the infamous VA 800 number and use the social securtiy number for them to check.

There should have been a copy kept of the application on file at the ALF if you personally did not keep one.

If the VA does not have it, you will be facing some additional challenges.  There should have also been some response from the VA since this was filed 6 months ago.  If you have not received any correspondence, that is not a good indicator.

Using iris.va.gov is easier and more reliable than the 800 number.
