My mother, a surviving spouse of a wartime veteran, was approved last year for a VA pension in the amount of $158 per month.  She since moved into an Assisted Living facility last December (2009) and I'm wondering if she would now be eligible for the $1055 pension OR is that amount reduced by the amount of her SS income?   If so, I assume the process would be a 'little' easier since she is already an approved recipient.

You need to submit a Support of Claim showing her increase in medical expenses.  Depending on where that puts her at the end of the month should warrant an increase in the award.  You need to do this ASAP, and be sure to send Return Receipt.
