We received notification that the VA has determined that our mother is not competent to handle her benefits (this was their final determination, not the preliminary that we rec'd with the A&A approval packet a couple of months ago).  The notification states that I, as her son, have applied to be the fiduciary (which is correct) ... and that appointment will be made when the VA conducts an interview with me.

Does anyone have any idea how long that usually takes?

Thank you!

More than likely this will be at a minimum 3-4 months depending on where you live.  There are not enough Field Agents who do these interviews, and it takes a while.  If you have not been contacted at the end of 2 months, would suggest you call and try to get an appointment set.

The good news is the VA will pay the monthly pension beginning the next month.  Any accrued benefit monies will not be released until the Fiduciary process has been completed.
