I just want to say how thankful I am to have found Veteranaid.org and this forum!! I was able to get my 95 year old mother (spouse of a World War 1 Vet) on Aid and Attendance.
I really appreciate the newsletter form Debbie!! !
I do have one question...if it has been answered I apologize. My mother is in an independent living facility but has homemaker assistance so she only get $91.00 a month A&A. If I have to move her to an assistant living facility will this amount increase? These facilities cost so much more.
Thank you in advance for your help.

If she is at Independent living because of some activity she can't perform, the the cost of the indie is a medical expense.
You just have to show the conection.
ie: can't cook. Some independent liv have common meal area. so the senior lives there BECAUSE the meals are prepared.
ie: can't drive. Some indies provide bus trips to grocery store etc.

Part of the biggest difference here is that she cannot claim the costs of the facility as she would be able to do if she were in an Assisted Living or Nursing Home facility.

With only having "homemaker" services, the conclusion would be that medically she can mangage in part on her own.  No meds dosing, assisting with bathing etc, and potentially no one on site as a medical responder.
