I have applied for A&A in May 09 for my mom. Sent in a complete package as per checklist.
I have gotten so far is a letter stating that they are backed up and still processing her application, received this 3 times already.
I got a letter in Aug stating they need marriage license, my dads death certificate and 2122 representative form. This was all in the original package but somehow they cant find it. I resent it all. Took 2 months for it to show up in the system since it was mailed in, so they said that is the normal time period.
In November I get a letter stating they need Form 2680 which is to be filled out by physician which we did and faxed it since it should show up in the system in 48 hours. Called in 4 days, they cant find the 2122 representative form  for me . Faxed it in again. Wait another week to show up in system then find out they dont have the Physicans form.  Refaxed it twice in December 12/10 & 12/21 and was told they will call me when they have it in the system - never called. Today they still dont have it. The rep today told me she will put another inquiry in today and have Philadelphia call me within 10 business days. If they dont then call back, they will do something and I have to wait another 10 days for them to respnd. I am appalled as this seems to be the norm.
My mom is in ALF and behind on paying, please, any advice?

JM,

I wish I could tell you that this experience is not normal, but if that was indeed the case, this website and forums would probably not have come into being.  Did they give you a direct fax number?  If you are not physically in the state of PA, the VA uses a "Smart Phone/Fax system that automatically routes the fax to the nearest office, so it may not have reached where you were trying to send it.

I would also suggest that you contact your Senator and ask them to be of assistance.  This has gone on far too long with too many claims by the VA that forms have not been received.  You really need to make that contact.
