How does a savings account or CD affect the monthly aid and assistance benefit?? Does the total value of the accounts count as your "countable income" or does just the interest earned count towards countable income??

The value of the CD or account will be considered when the VA reviews assets or net worth.  The monthly interest earned will be counted as income.  This is why it is very important to keep track of all deductable expenses.  They can add up in a hurry and help reduce income.
