85 year old mother is surviving spouse of veteran

but not both? My mom's award letter states that they granted death pension benefits effective 7-1-09 and additional allowance for A&A effective 7-1-09.

She is housebound.. is there another form to file for this benefit?

ok, special monthly pension = housebound OR Aid and Attendance.  You can only get 1.  A/A is the higher of the 2. You are set.

keep your letters safe to refer to them later on.
