I recently had a C&P for a Special Adapted Housing Grant in which the Doctor clarified I had been wheelchair bound for 4 years and unable to stand or walk.  I filed for an increase in my special monthly compensation based on a greater need because of additional problems I am having.  While during the exam I lost control of my bladder 2 times and the doctor documented this, in fact I didn't even realize I had done this which is the case most of the time.  My question is..Is there a level of Aid and Attendance one can be awarded for loss of bladder control??  I have read it falls under the "O" rate..can anyone tell me if this is true and how I should prepare my paperwork to submit for the increase?Huh

Thanks...

Dear Bigmuny;
First, are you service connected and entitled to compensation for your disability, or, are you drawing pension?
Second, is your bladder incontinence your direct disability, or, is it a secondary condition resulting from the disability that you are already service connected on?
Third, do you have a Veterans Service Officer in your city or county? If not, contact your local VA hospital. There will be a veterans service officer located in the hospital to assist you in filing your claim.

And, please let me add, "Thank you for your service to your country!"  God Bless You!

its too difficult to answer such a question like this in a forum.. here is what i would do, i would just be sure all medical documentation you have is submitted to VA.  a Rating Specialist will make the determination regarding the level / code of SMC you are entitled to.  if you want you can request a specific evaluation, such as you stated to VA.  but really, it is what the medical evidence shows.
