I am 100% T&P with SSDI, and my wife works as a day care teacher making about $1600 a month after taxes. Is this over any income limits, if any? The only thing I have seen so far is something about $80,000 in total assets minus house car and personal property.

Please visit this link to determine your "Countable Income" to see if you would meet the financial guidelines.

Ok, thank you for the link. I am having serious trouble understanding the difference between "assets" ($80,000 cap?) and "countable income". Since I do not have a "pension" (non-service connected?), but actual COMPENSATION, is that VA compensation considered countable income? Also, I do not get SSI, I get SSDI (disability insurance). Is that also considered pension or compensation, or countable income? What about EXPENSES? Rent, car payment, cable bill, water bill, insurance payment. Do these bills figure into things? This is really confusing and the VA does not appear to be helping define the matter.

Income of veteran and spouse is not a matter of interest for a service-connected veteran.  The VA does not inquire about income or net worth for service-connected claims.  We believe you are confusing info for non-service connected pension and with service-connected compensation.

I cannot imagine that you would ever be better off being on a non-service connected pension.
