We filed the paperwork to get my dad's service number and it seems like it's taking forever. Is there any faster way we can find it, maybe online?

You may be able too get his number online by going to
http://aad.archives.gov/aad/

Enter your dads name in the search box, I found my dads record online. I think all the records are only online if its Military service prior to around 1946. Its worth a Try!

Good Luck!

If you need to get copies of disharge papers, this site could be of help.
www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html

His service number should be on these papers.
