I am just starting the application process for my Grandmother who lives with me.  She is 84 with dementia.
I am unsure in regards to the countable income deductions.  I pay a woman to come in and help me with her, but I don't have any billing to submit with the application. How can I show that as unreimbursed expense?

Shannon,

If you want the VA to consider anticipated medical expenses, then you will need to submit some type of written fee agreement or arrangement from the in-home care provider regarding what will be paid. Of course anything paid prior to making application will not be counted unfortunately.  You should also be keeping records of any checks written this point forward.  If you are paying in cash, it would be more challenging to have a record that would be recognized for verification.

Hope this helps.
