Dear Debbie,
I am getting ready to file for my 91 year old father-in-law.  He is a WWII Naval veteran. He does not have his original Seperation Papers only a copy;  therefore it can not be certified.  Will the VA accept that?

Thank you in advance. BTW, I love this forum.

Jag,

Thanks!

The VA has their own way of locating discharge papers, so I would send in the application, and that will start the clock on the claim.  If the VA requires an "official" copy, they will let you know, and what would need to be done at that point.  Again, better to get him in the system at this point.
