When filling out the financial information on Form 21-526, for what time period are the figures to be based?
If I am filling making application in August of 2012, do the income and expenses need to be for calendar year 2011,
or for the previous consecutive 12 months from the filing date (i.e., August 2011 - August 2012)?

Expenses are considered by the VA from the date of application.  Do not use projections - be specific in all related expenses.

Hi all,

We will be applying soon for my husband to hopefully receive this benefit. He is 84, has had a stroke and needs care for all daily life functions. Eating, bathing, dressing, etc. He is a veteran of the Korean War. I am his caretaker.
I was able to work a couple of days a week part time because we had a close friend that would stay with my husband. I now need to stop working to stay home. I plan to apply after receiving my last paycheck soon.
Will I be able to not include any work income as long as it after the date of my last paycheck when we apply??
Is income also counted only from the date of application just as current expenses are???
We hardly have any savings so no problem with asset rule.
Otherwise only income is SS, with several medical deductions.
Thank you in advance for any advice  Smiley
