how much does a 100 percent service connected vet get in aid and attedance?

~$678 on top of his 100% payment as long as he needs assistance BECAUSE of the service related injury for whihc he is 100% disabled. ~ because I did the math for the COLA, I did not grab it from the VA website.

is that pay retroactive to when he first filed his 100 percent claim?

nope - from the 1st of the month after you ask for it.  it is very sad how many 100% disabled don't know about this extra amount of money - in my opinion its the confusion with it having the same name as the much more well known Non-Service Connected Aid and Attendance Pension.  The people who do know about it then seem to mistakenly tell non-service people they can't get it unless they are 100% disable - oh my aching head - I think they train you on Service or Non-Service but not both...that is the only reason I can think of for the decades of confusion on this particular point.
