Hi,
After sending in updated medical expenses for an approved claimant, how long does it take to receive reimbursement?

This is not an EVR, but it's for actual expenses reported during the Initial Year that exceeded the anticipated expenses.

THANKS!

Not sure on an estimated time, hoping someone on the forums who has already encountered this can offer some insights.

Thanks for your reply.  In the acceptance letter, we were instructed to send in the Initial Year actual expenses (mid 2010 – 2011) and first Calendar Year expenses (2011) by Jan. of 2013 in order to retain the benefit.  We sent the Initial Year expenses off a number of weeks ago, and I plan to send in the 2011 expenses soon.  I don’t know if reimbursement is contingent upon the 2011 expenses or not.  In the first report, I made up a general list of expenses, but failed to include “To Whom” we paid the expenses.  (They gave us no instructions or forms on how to report these expenses).  I will definitely include this in the upcoming report.  Do you think that will hurt us?  Should I send in additional details to update the Initial Year expense report so that the process isn’t hindered, or should I wait?

If you include everything on the 2nd report, you should be fine.  If the VA has any additional questions they will let you know.  If you feel they did not factor everything in, you can deal with it on a Statement in Support of Claim VA 21-4138.
