Hello,
My 86 year old father has been receiving a pension with A&A which was approved through a lot of paperwork and help from this forum.  I thank Debbie and everyone else for that.  Now after having his house sit vacant for two years, it is being sold for $55,000.  He has an additional $40,000 in savings.  I fully expect and deeply regret that he will be released from the A&A benefit.

My first question is how do I report this to the VA?  A statement in support of claims form?  And do I list the selling price and then the cost of real estate agent, real estate attorney, probate court fees and guardian ad litem fee?

Also I realize that he is elderly according to the government standards but he is in excellent health except that he has dementia and can't remember what he had for lunch while eating it.  When it comes time to start reapplying for benefits, is there a way to portray this fact?

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks!

Yes, you would use the 21-4138 to report the change in his finances.  You would report what he actually gets in the way of cash in the bank.

After he spends down where he will qualify financially again, you would just use the Statement in Support of Claim again informing the VA of his finances at that time to have the pension reinstated.
