Caregiver Expense questions
«

We have been paying Moms caregivers in cash and we will now move to checks, so we have receipts for A&A. Couple of questions:
1. Since we no longer get checks back from the bank, do we make copies of the checks before giving to caregivers? Or, do we go to the bank and request a printout of the specific checks we have given them? What does the VA want to see?
Bank Statements
Start having them submit an invoice style bill to you.
2. Will showing the VA our check register suffice?
Bank Statement
3. Will the VA want the social security numbers of our caregivers?
4. Do we need to give caregivers IRS 1090 forms, in order to have their expenses qualify for the VA A&A expense?
They are responsible for claiming income and filing.
5. Does it matter to the VA if we pay caregivers, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly?
No.
Thanks for any response you can provide in these matters.

Trying to let my dad handle some stuff so he pays one of his caregivers in cash, but she fills out a receipt each time. Will
that be ok, or should it really be checks?
