My 89 yr old mother has received the A & A medical benefit award letter. She is deemed incompetent, we are accepting that, and are dealing with the fiduciary step next. I am trying to figure out her assets and expenses now.

She has been taken care of at home for several years by two women we are paying in cash. Is this going to be a problem? How about if we pay them with money order, will that help?

Thanks for your response.

You indeed could have a problem, and would suggest you get them to sign something stating the amount they have been paid.  Going forward, never pay in cash.  You will have to have proof of payments, and you are better off with a check rather than a money order.

Congratulations on getting through the approval process.
