Trying to help a friend w/ her mom. Mom is already receiving spousal veteran benefits ( dad was a retired vet now deceased). Mom is now needing help and a social worker had spoken to the family about aid and attendance benefits. Can a spouse receive aid and attendance benefits if they are already receiving veteran benefits ? Currently mom is getting about $ 2000.00 per month which is her social security and his pension benefit. Is it worth the family to start investigating getting this benefit ? Will it go faster since mom is already " in the system " so to speak ?

Would need to know what the pension she is currently getting, and if the veteran was rated 100% disabled.
