First of all thank you debbie for giving care givers hope for their loved ones,I was at a Dr's appt today and was reading a magazine called Senior Advocate 2011 Resource Guide and saw the explaination on how to apply for this benefit. My brother(70) had a stroke 2 years ago.I have been his caregiver since that time,I have a full time job, he attends a place during the day while I am working,However he does not get the attention he deserves and i have been really stressing out knowing he is  so unhappy there. I am a manager in retail so my days can be very long.I have to quite often get someone to be with him on days i can't get home early enough to fix dinner and make sure he's bathed and in bed and had his meds. Summer is a lot easier because i can get my Daughter and  grandchildren to help me out .I am considering appling for this benefit for him, and would like to know if he would qualify even though he goes to a sort of adult day care that i am not to pleased with and considering taking him out of and getting a part time job to have more time with him.He can not stay alone, cook, bath or take his meds without supervision. Any comments would be very helpful in regards to filing for this benefit.
Thanks in Advance.

I would suggest you first go through the site and look at the Eligibility piece to make certain that his service time qualifies him, and that financially he meets the requirements.

Yes, he can go to adult care and claim that expense, but you may also want to look at having services come into the house if you think he would be happier in that enviornment.

All the forms and support are on the site and these forums to help get you through should you decide to file for him.

Thank you for your kind words, about my efforts, and glad you found us.
