«
on:

I sent in a Statement in support of claim for aid and attendance.
The VA replied back and at the top right of the reply there where 3 lines.
that stated. In Reply Refer To: 123/22T/JLM
XC 04 741 936
JOHNSON, S M
Does anyone know if any of these numbers or letters could be the VA file number.
The name in the bottom row is the Veterans name.(I changed the numbers to protect Identity)

The XC number is her file number.
X stands for death claims
C stands for claim number
SS stands for Social Security
Depending on when the veteran served, the claim number will be either C or CSS. If it is a widow applying, it will be XC or XSS.
The top numbers are routing numbers for the office that sent you the letter. For example, the St. Paul PMC's numbers are 335/21P. 335 is St. Paul's routing number, 21 indicates that the office is for compensation/pension services. P means that it is a pension center.
Probably too much info, but now you know. :-D
