I just found about this benefit. My father in law passed away in Dec. he was in the nursing home for 2 1/2 years is there any way to still apply for him or do we just have to wait till she needs help and apply for her?

Lolly,

Unfortunately, you cannot go back and file for what he would have been entitled to. I suggest getting all the necessary documents together and be prepared for the time that you may need to file for your MIL.

Sorry to not be able to give you better news on this.  Your FIL earned this pension with his service and should have received it.

Please share the site with those you know so that you may make a difference for someone else.
