Grammy, I thank my lucky stars every day.  In rereading my initial posts I realize I can't thank Debbie and the experts and participants on this forum enough.  The specific instructions and moral support I got here kept me motivated to keep going, one step at a time.

I hope you receive some specific advice on your predicament, and have a satisfactory resolution very soon.

Grammy,

Are you saying that they have not started the pension even though she was approved this past March?

That is correct, although I finally was able to speak with a "live" person this morning and found out that they had recorded her bank routing number incorrectly, so that is why no funds have been deposited.  I'm not sure why this inconsistency did not show up when they tried to send the deposit through.  I did stress the "urgency" of obtaining the funds asap since Mother's bank account is just about depleted.

The computer system can only confirm the routing number when the information is entered.  The account numbers are only rejected when the bank does not allow a deposit.  Now that the payment address has been fixed, you should have payment in about a week.

If you have filled out the Authorization to disclose, you should nicely call and ask if the corrected direct deposit information is on file and if she is scheduled to get her payment this month.  I agree wiht Debbie, a congressional inquiry can help you untangle the money since March issue quickly.

Grammy, I'm sorry to hear that your case has taken so long!  I have a feeling that they are going to my mother through that same process of fiduciary.  And like you, I think they figure if they wait long enough, she'll die, and they won't have to pay her a dime!  The stress this brings is hard!  My mother is being sued by creditors because she can't pay for care-giving and pay her bills too.  I emailed the Vet's and told them that she is in financial hardship, they wrote back for her to send in proof of financial hardship in order to expedite her case.  I doubt this will do anything, either.

As for the your mother being approved back in March, I read that a law was passed that if a fiduciary process was ordered that the claimant was to be paid from the approval but any retroactive pay would be withheld until a fiduciary was appointed.  You should look into that.

My mom is in Nevada; don't know if each state has a specific office but we send support of claim to St. Paul, MN.

I wanted to share the news that my mother's pension was awarded today!  Went into her bank account and found that almost $10,0000 had been deposited!!!  I want to thank everyone for their help and advice, but particularly "Vetadmin" who suggested that I contact my mother's senator's office.  I did contact the senator's office on behalf of my mom, and they called just a week ago to let us know that they had contacted the Veteran's Administration regarding my mom's case...........so no coincidence that today she got her money!!!!!  It took 10 months, but worth the wait!  Any of you who have been waiting for more than 8 months, I would advise you to contact your senator's office as well.  Thanks again and best wishes for those of you still waiting!

I met with the fudiciary representative on July 27, 2011, completed all necessary forms and was told to set up a special bank account so that VA could deposit the retroactive funds and monthly checks.  Completed this process and expressed bank information on 25AUG11 to VA in Winston-Salem, NC.  To date (23SEP11) no funds have been deposited.  As I stated before, the initial application for the benefit was sent on 28MAY10.  I'm still waiting.
