Assisted Living VS Nursing Home

Hi Everyone! Finding conflicting info on web site and forums. I have been using web site's "Step by Step Guide to Va Improved Pension (for surviving spouse only) It says, for Section VI question 32A that this question refers only to official nursing homes NOT to assisted living facilities. For this reason, I answered "NO", as my mother is residing in an assisted living facility. The forums though have several responses indicating that the VA considers an assisted living facility the same as a nursing home. What is the correct answer to this?
On this same note- would I have to submit the "NURSING HOME STATUS STATEMENT"? if she in fact resides in assisted living?

The VA does not consider a NH the same as ALF, so keep as you have it.  No you do not do Nursing Home Status, but do get a Certificate of Occupancy from the ALF.

What state does your mom live in so we can provide the proper mailing address for you.
