91 year old WW II vet and Respite Care?

My father is a 91 year old WW II vet and was not injured in the war.  But since I take care of his needs part time, I often need respite care.  Does he qualify for any V.A. programs for respite care if he lives alone and can still drive, eat, cloth and bathe himself daily?  He could sure use some help cooking and cleaning.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I am not knowledgeable about this area.  I do know that the VA put something into place to assist caregivers like yourself, but not sure what the needs of the vet has to be in order to be eligible.

You might want to do some searching on "caregiver" forums and contact the VA to see if anyone can shed some light or guidance for you.
