I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone! VA or other wise and our accountant doesn't know the answer to this question. My mom is a widow of a veteran and she recieves sitter care expenses from the VA. I am her caregiver. Am I supposed to pay taxes on what is provided through the VA to me as the caregiver? If you can not answer this on this forum, please email me at dalej@k12tn.net.

We are supposed to be going back to our accountant to do our taxes tonight and I'd love to know the answer to this question.

For your mom, this pension is tax-free money, which she does not claim on tax returns.

For you, whatever you are paid is considered income as this is not a pension for you.
