Hi, can the Veterans online application website be used to file for aid and attendance benefits?

https://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/default.asp

Thanks!

In my experience with the VA with my own claims as a Vet and helping my wife with her mom's A&A claim, it would be better to apply with hard copy with certified return receipt on any  correspondence with the VA. Your receipt is your secure dates of having submitted. Also by applying online, for some reason they may think you are applying for DIC instead of A&A. That is what happened to my wife's mothers claim. I don't know exactly what happened but we are trying to get that ironed out. You want to make sure that your application is clearly for A&A.
I'm no expert but these are from our experience.

Mil t is correct here.

The VA's online system is programmed to automatically process claims for "Compensation" or DIC and not for Pension.

The tried and true way here is indeed the old fashion way, and to always make certain to keep a complete copy of the applicaiton and any correspondence.  ALWAYS send Return Receipt for proof of delivery.  Make sure you are sending to the correct pension processing center for your state.
