Thanks to this information on this web-site, I was able to secure A&A for my father within 3 months without help from VA service organization(another story for later).  What happens next besides receiving the funds? Are there yearly  audits, forms to be filled out, dead-lines, etc?

I'm so very HAPPY for you!!  Wish I knew what happens next.  My dad was approved 4 days before he passed, which was just 2 weeks ago.  My story will be different as I move forward for my mom's survivor benefit.

Really - congratulations!

thanks for all your congratulations. When VA called to ask a question, she said that she was very impressed with the binder and tabs, which I had found this suggestion in the  forum. The binder also helped me to keep it together while I was working on it. I also sent everything--doctors records, hospital records, pharmacy records, estimate of upcoming years expenses, etc.  If there were two forms that seem to cover same thing, I sent both with explanation that I wasn't sure which one they wanted so here is both.

I went to the  local VA service advisor.  When he acted like he didn't know what Aid & Attendance was, I knew I did not want to use him.  After 10 minutes, he miracously remembered and said that he could file my form online in a few minutes despite my telling him that I did not have all the information at that time. If he had filed, I know I would have been denied.  I spent the better part of 1 1/2 months putting the information together.  In my case, I know you can't have too much information or at least it worked for me.   I feel very lucky and I wish the best in all of your endeavors with VA.

Faye,

Thanks for sharing more of your experience with us, and wishing everyone the best outcome.

Be sure to keep all your accounting records, so you will be as prepared for the EVR next year.
