My 88 yr old father in law is being courted by a Financial Firm who is telling him they will help him to get qualified for aid & attendance benefits.
My gut says they are looking to invest his monies so they can make commissions -- however they also stated he needed to get moved into the ALF prior to being approved.   This is my question -- is that true?

No doubt this question has perhaps been asked before so I hope I'm not too annoying asking.

Go with your gut!  No he doesn't have to be in an ALF prior to applying.  He could have services come into the house that would qualify.  They said he has to be in an ALF so they can claim those expenses and probably have a deal with the facility for the placement.

I just posted something on this today, which you should read. http://veteranaid.org/forums/index.php/topic,996.0.html
